Upper Dolpo Trek

25 Days

Upper Dolpo Trek, a land past the Himalayas, excites dreams of baffling religious communities, snow leopards and blue sheep. It is arranged in the western part of the country and is a standout amongst the most remote districts in Nepal.

The Dolpo region is particularly isolated zone which has been entirely beyond reach until just as of late, so the conventions and lifestyle have stayed in place. In the harvest time of 1990, the principal British visit administrator composed a trek from east to west, from Pokhara to Jumla through Lower Dolpo.

This trekking course passed numerous monstrous mountain ranges – Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and  Kanjiroba, to give some examples – and went through Lower Dolpo, at one time a little kingdom in its own particular right. The trekkers of this areas are enthused significantly about the wild remoteness, the dazzling mountain view and the way that the neighborhood individuals had that honest kind disposition curious to individuals who live in unnecessarily remote rocky locales.

The general population that lives here only a few of hundred and are among the world’s most unusual holders. The towns in Upper Dolpo are 4,300 m or more. It is here, particularly that individuals still practice the pre-Buddhist Bon Po religion. This early order was totally supplanted after Buddhist teaching started to spread crosswise over Tibet in the ninth century.

Peter Matthiessen’s “The Snow Leopard” and David Snellgrove’s “Himalayan Pilgrimage” have contributed to the mystique and attraction of Dolpo. Both writers visited the Shey Gompa, to the north of the Phoksundo Lake, inner Dolpo. This is the goal of most trekkers but this Upper Dolpo trek will take you even further into this mysterious land.
